Job Description:

The System Designer is an integral member of the team, responsible for leading the AVL design process while collaborating closely with the broader design and sales teams. This role involves participating in client meetings and site surveys (billable and speculative), crafting comprehensive system designs, and supporting system integration from concept to completion.

Core Responsibilities

  • Attend external meetings and conduct needs analyses as requested.
  • Capture the clients vision and translate it into a comprehensive AVL system design.
  • Design complete audio, video, and lighting (AVL) systems with a high degree of accuracy and integrity.
  • Assist in managing internal and external communications.
  • Create and maintain detailed design documentation, including:
    • Quotes and budgets
    • Full-scale plans
    • One-line drawings
    • Renderings and system sketches
    • Scope of work and project narratives
    • Communication documents, proposals, and project reports
  • Research, schedule, and conduct customer training sessions.
  • Support the drawing and CAD processes.
  • Assist with system programming and commissioning.
  • Work with the sales team to maintain positive client relationships, address complaints, suggest improvements, and provide timely solutions.
  • Help manage and maintain company assets, including equipment and facilities.
  • Uphold safety protocols and policies per the safety manual.
  • Participate in professional development and stay current with industry trends and technologies.
  • Support contract fulfillment, service needs, and general operational duties.
  • Follow and enforce all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in AVL system design or related field
  • In-depth knowledge of the AVL industry and current technologies
  • Ability to independently design and manage AVL projects
  • Experience working in a small business environment and across multiple markets, including:
    • Houses of Worship
    • Bars, Restaurants, and Clubs
    • Educational Institutions
    • Corporate/Commercial Spaces
    • Entertainment Venues

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Vectorworks
  • Familiarity with Q-SYS or similar DSP platforms
  • Mac and Windows OS proficiency
  • Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and SketchUp
  • Strong collaborative and adaptive communication skills across various platforms
